Key Responsibilities
As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for the following:
- Prepare estimates of labour and material costs.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements.
- Prepare layouts according to building codes using measuring tools.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood and other materials.
- Work with wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other construction materials.
- Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
- Estimate project costs and required materials.
- Instruct apprentices.
- Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures.
- Perform carpentry work in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and construction requirements.
